WARNING: Contains potential spoilers for Wonder Woman #12!Wonder Woman and Robin Damian Wayne are two of my favorite characters in the DC Universe, so seeing them team up in Absolute Power has been a dream come true—one I hope never ends. Although only one issue of their team-up has been released in Tom King and Tony S. Daniel’s Wonder Woman run, the promise of more has me thrilled beyond words.
Robin mimicking Wonder Woman’s speech in a genuine way is incredibly adorable, reminiscent of a duckling imitating its mother.
Wonder Woman #12 ties into Absolute Power, a crossover crisis event where Amanda Waller hunts down and imprisons heroes using her power-stealing Amazo robots. This issue focuses on the team-up of Damian Wayne and Diana Prince as they work to uncover the location of Waller’s secret prison. By the end of the issue, I was convinced that the Amazon Princess and Boy Wonder are the ultimate superhero friendship, and I am eager to see more. Here are my top five reasons why I love this dynamic and the potential I see in it.
5 Diana Prince & Damian Wayne Are 1 of DC’s Most Unlikeliest Duos (& I’m VERY Entertained)
Robin & Wonder Woman Are Two Sides of the Same Coin, Making For a Great Dynamic
When I first heard about Diana and Damian teaming up through the solicitations for Wonder Woman #12, I was over the moon. I never expected DC to give us a one-on-one team-up between Robin and Wonder Woman. Sure, they both have a connection to Batman, but at this point, nearly every DCU hero does. Diana and Damian also have a connection through Wonder Woman’s daughter, Trinity, but that’s more of a future link, so it doesn’t really factor into the current storyline. There really wasn’t any reason for Diana and Damian to cross paths other than Tom King willing it, and boy, am I glad he did.
The pairing of Diana and Damian isn’t just intriguing because it’s unexplored territory; it’s because they are incredibly entertaining together. Both are warriors in their own right, but they approach heroism from opposite ends of the spectrum. While Diana champions love and tries to avoid conflict when possible, Damian is quick to use fear and often resorts to violence first. Watching these contrasting personalities work together has been thoroughly amusing. One of my favorite moments that captures their dynamic perfectly is when Diana picks Damian up like a misbehaving pup just before he’s about to brutally beat Captain Boomerang.
4 Wonder Woman Is Already Influencing Robin (& It’s the Best Thing Ever)
I’m Convinced Tom King Has Plans to Show Diana and Damian Learning & Influencing Each Other in Future Issues
One of the best parts of unusual team-ups is seeing how the characters influence each other and how their behavior changes depending on who they’re working with. Even though only one issue of Diana and Damian’s Absolute Power team-up has been released so far, it’s clear they are already having an impact on each other. Wonder Woman’s influence on Damian is perhaps the most noticeable, as the youngest Robin has started adopting her vernacular. Throughout this issue, Diana curses in a unique way, using mythological references and alliteration. By the end of the issue, Damian has picked up the habit, saying, “Dionysus’s darned drapes.”
Robin mimicking Wonder Woman’s speech in a genuine way is incredibly adorable, reminiscent of a duckling imitating its mother. However, it seems Damian may also be influencing Diana. The core of Wonder Woman’s character is to seek peace over violence. Yet, the Boy Wonder’s more aggressive tendencies may be rubbing off on the Amazon Princess. Despite refusing to harm Captain Boomerang several times, Diana eventually snaps after he repeatedly calls her a slur. Some fans have noted that this feels out of character for Wonder Woman, but it could also be seen as Robin’s influence on her.
3 Sorry, Talia al Ghul, But Wonder Woman Is the Mom That Damian Wayne Needs
Diana Shows Damian the Love and Comfort He Has ALWAYS Deserved
Wonder Woman #12 has been making waves on Tumblr and other social media platforms thanks to a standout moment that has melted the hearts of Damian Wayne fans. After several failed attempts to get Captain Boomerang to reveal the location of Waller’s secret prison, Damian grows increasingly frustrated and prepares to use force. When Wonder Woman stops him, explaining that Batman wouldn’t want him to use torture, Damian breaks down, pointing out that he isn’t his father. Diana’s attempt to comfort him leads to his remark that she doesn’t understand, prompting her to reply, “Don’t I? You should remember, young one… I too am the child of a god.”
Despite Diana’s statement implying that Batman is a god, she knows he is not, but she uses the comment to show that she understands the struggle of living up to a parent with a god-like legacy. In this emotionally moving scene, Wonder Woman holds the crying Robin, providing him with the maternal love and comfort that DC has long denied him. While many fans, myself included, have hoped for a portrayal of Good Mom Talia al Ghul in the comics, Wonder Woman stepping up to offer Damian the maternal care he has never received is even more powerful and satisfying.
2 Robin & Wonder Woman Are the Cross-Generational, Cross-Team Duo That I Didn’t Know I Needed
DC Might’ve Just Stumbled Across Their Coolest Idea in Years (& I’m Not Sure If They Realize It)
For some time, I struggled to pinpoint what makes the Wonder Woman and Robin team-up feel so refreshing and distinct. But I finally figured it out: Diana and Damian represent a unique cross-generational and cross-team pairing. Typically, DC either features cross-generational team-ups, such as Batman working with one of his Robins, or heroes from the same generation coming together, like the Titans. Thus, it’s particularly notable to see a main Justice League hero like Wonder Woman teaming up with another hero’s sidekick and son, like Robin.
Diana and Damian’s team-up feels uniquely refreshing because they come from entirely different superhero families and generations—a dynamic that DC might not fully appreciate. This cross-generational and cross-family pairing offers an exciting twist that could be applied to other DC heroes. For example, seeing Batman team up with one of the younger Flashes, like Bart Allen, could lead to incredibly chaotic and entertaining scenarios. The potential for Justice League heroes to collaborate with younger heroes from outside their respective families is vast, offering a wealth of new, unexplored dynamics that could reinvigorate the DC Universe.
1 I’m Now Obsessed With the Idea of Damian Wayne Growing Up To Be the Batman That Fights Alongside Wonder Woman
Forget Wonder Woman’s Daughter! Damian and Jon Can Join Diana Once Their Fathers Retire (or Die)
Tom King’s companion comic Trinity envisions a future where Wonder Woman’s daughter Lizzie, along with Jon and Damian as young adults, takes center stage. This storyline hints at a new generation of the Justice League’s Trinity. However, after witnessing the compelling interactions between Diana and Damian in Wonder Woman #12, I’m now even more enthusiastic about the prospect of seeing a grown-up Damian and Jon stepping into their fathers’ roles within the Trinity, alongside Diana. Given that Wonder Woman is immortal, she will likely still be active long after Clark and Bruce are gone.
The idea of Batman and Superman’s sons joining Wonder Woman in this new era is exceptionally appealing. It would create a powerful full-circle moment, where Diana not only continues to protect and guide the sons of her best friends but also becomes their teammate. This scenario offers a deeply emotional narrative, reflecting on Wonder Woman’s enduring bond with Clark and Bruce’s legacies. While Lizzie’s character is intriguing, seeing the development of the relationship between Wonder Woman and Robin as Damian matures and assumes his father’s mantle would be even more captivating and meaningful.

Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman is the superhero identity of Diana, Princess of the Amazons. Created on the island of Themyscira, Wonder Woman is a super-powered demi-goddess with extreme physical strength who utilizes magical gifts (like her famous Lasso of Truth) to defeat her foes. As mighty as her fellow heroes Superman and the Justice League, Wonder Woman is unmatched in her compassion and virtue.
