How To Complete Every Scoop Side Quest In Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

Scoops are timed side missions in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. They allow Frank to gain extra Prestige Points (PP) to level up quickly. Certain Scoops also give more story context, or can prevent tragedies from occurring in future days. Several of them require progression in the main story cases, but some are reliant on other Scoops to be completed. If you fail either of the two, that Scoop will be inaccessible until you restart the game.

With the tight deadlines in every version of Dead Rising, expect to miss some Scoops on your first playthrough. Frank will begin the adventure at a low level, and might not have the skills to even safely reach some of the destinations in time. Consider waiting to complete every Scoop until a second try. You can then use all of that accumulated PP to make a strong main character and focus on a particular ending.

Getting To Know The Survivors

Paul Carson gives a Molotov reward in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster

As you explore the Parkview Mall, several people will have special requests or odd demands. Some of them, like survivor turned Psychopath Kent Swanson, are found running around the zombie-infested area. It can be dangerous to pursue these if you are under-leveled, but some of the expiration dates are lenient enough for you to come back to them later.

However, other Scoops come from Survivors who are already saved and are simply bored waiting in the Security Room. This means you can complete the bulk of them regardless of Frank’s current level. While most Scoops grant rewards, some of them simply prevent unexpected deaths in Dead Rising.

Scoop

Date And Time Limit

Objective

Cut From The Same Cloth

September 19, 14:00 – 20:00

Meet Kent at Colombian Roastmasters. Take any picture worth 500 PP. Then, take a photo of Kent pumping his fist.

Photo Challenge

September 20, 12:00 – 13:00

Kent wants a photo of a woman worth 750 PP. Suitable candidates include Jessie McCarney and Sophie Richards. Note that you must have the photo already or the Scoop will fail when first speaking to Kent.

Roland’s Appetite

September 20, 19:00- September 21, 02:00

Feed Roland inside the Security Room several spare food items. If you do not, the following Survivors will leave and die: Bill Brenton, Aaron Swoop, Burt Thompson, Sophie Richards, Nathan Crabbe, Michelle Feltz, Cheryl Jones, Ray Mathison, Beth Shrake, Heather Tompkins, and Pamela Tompkins.

Floyd the Sommelier

September 21, 02:00 – September 22, 12:00

First, save three of the following people: Tonya Walker, Ross Folk, Sally Mills, Nick Evans, Jolie Wu, Rachel Decker, Mindy Baker, Debbie Willett, Paul Carson, Susan Walsh, or Simone Ravendark. Once done, Floyd will ask that you bring him a bottle of wine.

Kindell’s Betrayal

September 21, 12:00 – 17:00

Head back to the Security Room when called. Speak to Kindell and convince him to stay. If you do not talk to him before the end of the day, the following Survivors will die: Jeff Meyer, Natalie Meyer, Rich Atkins, Gordon Stalworth, Leah Stein, Josh Manning, Jennifer Gorman, Gil Jimenez, Barbra Patterson, and Wayne Blackwell.

Paul’s Present

September 21, 17:00 – September 22, 12:00

Speak to Paul in the yellow room. If you agree to keep his attack as a Psychopath a secret, he will give you Molotov Cocktails for the remainder of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Simone The Gunslinger

September 21, 20:00 – September 22, 12:00

Simone will ask that you give her a handgun. She will keep hold of it and never return it to Frank.

Cheryl’s Request

September 21, 21:00 – September 22, 12:00

Either complete Roland’s Appetite, or skip it completely so that all blue room survivors stay. Once Cheryl has a crowd of three or more, she will ask Frank to take photos of her. You can earn up to 2,100 PP for the pictures, along with another 10,000 for accepting her request.

The final Scoop in the game is Cheryl’s Request. YouTuber Manugames92 got a call from Otis as they left the safe area, which you can see in the video below. Cheryl’s Scoop occurred during a moment of downtime. You can technically take any photos and complete the quest. However, ones that include Cheryl’s full body will award more PP to level up.

While Scoops are nice side activities, the main goal is to get the bonus PP values. But, don’t wait too long. The maximum level in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is 50. Once you reach that goal, all of that extra PP is going to waste with no further way to spend it.
