Jack Howarth has delivered a hilarious promise after he was the victim of an embarrassing moment on live television during Friday’s NRL preliminary final.

The 21-year-old helped Storm book their place in next Sunday’s Grand Final with a dominant 48-18 victory against the Roosters.

Howarth showcased his strong running abilities during the match, punching through holes in the Sydney defence on multiple occasions, before touching down in the corner before half-time.

But despite Storm’s clinical display Howarth had been the subject of a humerous moment during the match, having his backside accidentially exposed to the 29,000 fans inside the AAMI Park and watching the live television broadcast.

After breaking through the line, Joey Manu dived to stop the Storm centre from gaining more ground in a desperate attempt to pull the Queensland-born star to the ground.

But the Roosters star accidentally grabbed Howarth’s shorts, pulling them down to show his backside.

Rather hilariously, Cameron Smith, on commentary for Channel Nine at the time joked: ‘It looks like they haven’t had too much sun down here in Melbourne.’

Howarth, though, delivered a hilarious response to the incident, claiming that he needed to tie his shorts tighter.

‘This isn’t the first time it has happened,’ he said after the match.

‘I’m going to have to tie my budgies and my shorts up a bit tighter. I think I’m scarring a few people in the crowd.’

Earlier in the game, Howarth had combined with Ryan Papenhuyzen who had crashed through the Roosters’ backline.

Chasing after the fullback, the 21-year-old showed that he has plenty of pace to burn, catching up with his team-mate before receiving the ball and striding home to give Storm a 16-6 lead in the first-half.

‘If you look at it, I was at least 10 metres behind him. I was surprised [he passed it] but I got there in the end,’ he said on the try.

‘It’s big moments like that, if you can capitalise on them, that can change the momentum of a game or a final.’
