Emergency over after police respond to reports of armed person north of Brisbane

An emergency declaration in Queensland has been revoked after reports of an armed person sent suburban streets north of Brisbane into lockdown earlier this evening.

Police said there was no longer an ongoing threat to the public in Kallangur, in the Moreton Bay region, about 8.50pm (9.50pm AEDT) today.

The Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) alert had been issued earlier as police responded to the reports of a potential threat in the area.

Police officers were searching for the person reportedly seen near a property along Sheehan Street.

The incident was declared an emergency just after 6.30pm (7.30pm AEDT) and an exclusion zone was established around Sheehan, Andrew, Kent, Boardman and Bond streets and Anzac Avenue.

Police had earlier advised residents within the exclusion zone to remain indoors and everyone else to avoid the area.
