Addo-Carr makes contract call after Bulldogs sacking

Josh Addo-Carr will suit up for Parramatta next season after agreeing to terms on a two-year deal following his sacking by Canterbury for failing a roadside drug test.

The 29-year-old former NSW and Australian winger sealed his Eels deal after finalising the details with new coach Jason Ryles and football manager Mark O’Neill on Thursday evening.

Parramatta are yet to formally announce Addo-Carr’s signing but it is likely to happen on Friday.

The Dragons were also in the hunt for the dual premiership-winning former Storm star but prioritised the signing of ex-Eels skipper Clint Gutherson, who has inked a three-year deal.

Addo-Carr was given the flick by the Bulldogs recently after the club’s board was unimpressed with his failure to disclose the truth behind his arrest in the lead-up to the finals.

The Bulldogs terminated the final year of his deal but Addo-Carr will try to rebuild his career at Parra who are looking to bounce back after a disastrous season which included coach Brad Arthur getting the punt midway through the year.

Ryles and Addo-Carr worked together at Melbourne when the new Eels coach was an assistant under Craig Bellamy.

Parra recently released Fijian winger Maika Sivo, who will reunite with Arthur at Leeds in the Super League.
