Trio sentenced over honeytrap murder in UK after luring young man to his death

A UK woman has been sentenced over the murder of a 24-year-old man, after luring him out of a friend’s house to his death.

Sacad Ali was playing video games at his friend’s house in England’s East Sussex when he received a call from an unknown number at 4am on March 9.

25-year-old Rebecca Moore was on the other end of the line and convinced Ali to leave his mate’s house to meet her in Ponderosa Park.

When he arrived he was met by Barney Griffin, 18 and Jack Douglas, 17, who ambushed Ali, stabbing him to death with machetes.

When he arrived he was met by Barney Griffin, 18 and Jack Douglas, 17, who ambushed Ali, stabbing him to death with machetes.

South Yorkshire Police said Ali “begged” the pair to stop their “relentless and brutal” assault before the pair fled the scene.

He died from his injuries at the park where they left him despite efforts from paramedics and police.

“After our officers arrived in Ponderosa Park, they immediately secured a large scene in order to preserve any possible pieces of evidence before they began gathering witness statements from as many people as possible who were in the area at the time,” Detective Chief Inspector Ben Wood said.

“They provided physical descriptions of the attackers, including details of the clothes they were wearing, with these matching clothing we seized from Griffin’s home following his arrest.”

Griffin and Douglas handed themselves in to police on March 12 as the pressure was building.

On the same day, a police officer approached Moore in Burngreave, in Sheffield, after receiving reports that a suspect had been spotted in the area.

The officer caught the encounter on bodycam footage, and can be heard asking the 25-year-old for her name.

Moore lied to the officer, telling him her name was “Lauren Smith,” but he was confident the woman was Rebecca Moore.

He asked dispatch to send him a picture of the suspect and confirmed it was her, after she refused to provide him with identification.

She was arrested and the trio were later convicted of the murder.

“The two teenagers murdered Sacad in a barbaric way, with Moore also murdering him by duping him into meeting and luring him to the spot where he would be brutally attacked,” Wodd said.

“Rather than admit her guilt, Moore then made Sacad’s loved ones relive the events of the day he died by making them endure a trial in court, after which she was found guilty of murder.”

All three were sentenced on November 28 (local time).

Griffin will serve 16 years and Douglas will serve 15 years.

Moore was given a life sentence for murder, with a minimum term of 15 years imprisonment.
