Rangers vs Tottenham live updates: Europa League predictions, team news and latest score

There was a lone Europa League fixture last night, between Turkish side Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, and Bilbao-based Spanish team Athletic Club.

And Mourinho’s men were beaten in Istanbul, with Inaki Williams scoring a first-half double to give the visitors a 2-0 lead. When home defender Mert Muldur was sent off, it made Fenerbahce’s task even harder, and they were unable to turn the tide.

An away win and clean sheet for Athletic Club, who climbed to the top of the table in the process.

Work to do for Fener, who currently lie 15th on eight points after two wins, two draws, and two defeats from their opening six games.

They look in a decent spot for a play-off position (finishing between ninth and 24th place), though an automatic qualification spot (for finishing in the top eight) may be beyond them.

There was also loads of Champions League action – you can catch up with The Athletic‘s Champions League Briefing here.
