This is by no means an original sentiment, as we’ve clearly shown ourselves to be big fans of the man, but there can’t be that much argument with the position that Conan O’Brien was the best late night TV host America ever had, can there? Yeah, yeah, you can make your cases for your Carsons and your Lettermans and all that, but, really, can we be honest with ourselves? There’s only one winner. When the dust settles and the historians of some hypothetical human future sift through the ashes of a burned up planet, searching for the spiciest memes and other valuable cultural remnants of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, their desire for quality ‘late night television’ (whatever that’ll mean to them) material could be sated by just one host. He of the towering frame, and the potent and unique mixture of cutting wit, wholesome sweetness, and gonzo surrealism. His Simpsons credentials didn’t hurt either.
