A motorcycle model and social media influencer, Tatyana Ozolina, known to millions of fans as ‘MotoTanya’, has died in a traffic accident in western Türkiye.
Ozolina, 38, was turned away from the Greek border last week. Her original plan was to do a summer tour around western Europe, but the EU member country’s authorities would not allow her motorcycle through into the bloc.
Riding in the company of two other bikers on Monday, Ozolina lost control and crashed into a passing truck, the Telegram channel Baza reported, citing local sources. She died before paramedics arrived.
The accident happened near Milas, about halfway between the provincial capital of Mugla and the popular coastal resort of Bodrum.
‘MotoTanya’ had about five million followers on TikTok, about two million on YouTube, and another 960,000 on Instagram. Her last post on all platforms was a short clip from the Greek-Turkish border, lamenting the fact that the EU would not let her motorcycle through.
“I was upset that I didn’t get to ride in Europe, but not too much, because I knew that this situation could happen. So I go on, to conquer the beautiful, warm and hospitable Türkiye,” she wrote at the time.
Three days prior, Tanya had posted a bikini photo from Akcaabat, as she rode along the Black Sea coast from Georgia to the border with Greece.
Ozolina was recognized as “motoblogger of the year” in 2023, and as “travel blogger of the year” in April this year, by the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.
