Recently, however, actress Jane Kaczmarek was interviewed by Malcolm France, a YouTube channel dedicated to Malcolm in the Middle, where she revealed that Sullivan is doing well and is currently a student at an undisclosed university. “He’s well, he’s very, very well,” Kaczmarek, who starred as Lois in the sitcom, said. “He did Malcolm for seven years, he started at seven, he ended at 14. He wasn’t interested in acting, at all.”

Kaczmarek went on to say that Sullivan pursued a path that diverged from acting after Malcolm in the Middle. “He goes to school at a very prestigious American university that he’s asked us all to be quiet about and he loves Charles Dickens,” Kaczmarek said. “He’s doing graduate work in Victorian literature. I admire it because so many people think being in show business is the greatest thing in the world, it’s not for everyone.”

Malcolm in the Middle May Soon Get a Reboot

Given that Sullivan is apparently uninterested in acting, it’s unclear whether he’d return for the rumored Malcolm in the Middle reboot. Recent comments by Frankie Muniz indicate that a revival is “the closest it’s ever been” to becoming a reality. While Muniz acknowledged that there have been rumors of a revival for years, and that nothing’s confirmed, he also stated that the cast was fully on board, so long as the story was right.

There’s definitely reason to believe a Malcolm in the Middle revival is close to happening. Just last year, it was reported that Bryan Cranston, who starred as Hal, is working on the revival himself. Cranston may only be one piece of the puzzle, but his increased star power in recent years may also help get a revival off the ground.

So, while nothing’s been confirmed, it may soon be time for a Malcolm in the Middle revival. Hopefully, Sullivan will be around for at least a cameo — Malcolm in the Middle may be titled after Muniz’s character, but the show had plenty of ensemble moments that showcased each family member’s talent and versatility.
