A24 Presents ‘An Eerie Series’ Will Feature a Host of Modern Horror Classics

The event begins with The Killing of a Sacred Deer on Tuesday, October 1. Written and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, The Killing of a Sacred Deer stars Academy Award nominee, Colin Farrell, as Dr. Steven Murphy and Academy Award winner, Nicole Kidman, as his ophthalmologist wife Anna. The story centers on the couple and their two children after Murphy’s unstable teenage patient, Martin (Barry Keoghan), inserts himself into the family’s idyllic suburban life.

Next up is A Ghost Story on Tuesday, October 8. Starring Academy Award winner, Casey Affleck, and Academy Award nominee, Rooney Mara, the story follows a recently deceased and shrouded Affleck, after he returns home to watch his grieving widow and old life slip away. The film explores the themes of loss, longing, and the essential human need for meaning and connection.

It Comes At Night will return to screens on Tuesday, October 15. A psychological horror thriller follows a teenage boy, Travis (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), as he and his ever vigilant, heavily armed parents (Joel Edgerton and Carmen Ejogo) grapple with the end of the world. Sheltering in their secluded home, the family is forced to cohabitate with a group of strangers and, despite their good intentions, both families struggle to navigate their fear, grief, paranoia, and panic as resources dwindle, and the apocalypse closes in.

Last year’s black comedy Dream Scenario is next, with the Nicolas Cage outing playing on Tuesday, October 22. Hapless researcher and aspiring writer, Paul Matthews (Nicolas Cage), finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams. However, when the phenomenon takes a nightmarish turn, Paul struggles to reconcile his newfound infamy.

Finally, the modern horror classic Hereditary returns to the big screen on Tuesday, October 29. Directed by Ari Aster, the film tells the story of the Graham family as they process two family tragedies and uncover increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Mourning her late mother and the death of her daughter, Annie Graham (Toni Collette) struggles to process the trauma and resentment while making sense of the ominous and deeply disquieting supernatural forces at play.
