It’s not often a record is broken twice in a single season, but this WNBA season has been nothing if not an outlier.
Las Vegas Aces superstar and MVP frontrunner A’ja Wilson broke the single-season rebound record with her 447th board of the campaign in a game against the Seattle Storm on Tuesday.
She broke the record set by rookie Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky, who passed the previous record two weeks ago on Sep. 1 before undergoing season-ending wrist surgery last week.
With Reese unable to defend her mark of 446 boards, Wilson skyrocketed to the top spot with four double-digit rebounding games in her last six before Tuesday’s outing against the Storm.
Wilson, 28, has been on a tear this season and already set the new single-season record for points after becoming the first-ever player to score over 1,000 points in a season.
The two-time MVP is currently averaging 27.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.6 blocks per game this season.
