“That was a high hit … fair enough,” Matthew Richardson said on 7.

The match review officer graded the incident as careless conduct with Rampe set to be fined $2,500 if he accepts an early plea.

While he was flattened by Rampe, Butters rose to his feet and joked with his Swans rival after the hit.

“I think that shows how tough Butters is because he got up, laughed at it as if it was nothing,” Luke Hodge said.

Hodge’s comments come after Port great Kane Cornes called for Butters to “push through” a rib injury he was subbed off for in the qualifying final loss against Geelong.

Sydney went on to win the match 14.11 (95) – 8.11 (59) in the preliminary final to put themselves in the grand final.
