Following the No. 12-ranked Boise State Broncos’ 28-21 victory over the Nevada Wolf Pack on Saturday night, fans praised the 8-1 Broncos and Heisman-hopeful running back Ashton Jeanty as they secured their seventh consecutive win.
After being tied 14-14 at halftime, Boise State came out strong in the second half, scoring 14 unanswered points to secure the win.
Broncos quarterback Maddux Madsen completed 9 of 20 passes for 199 yards, with one interception and one touchdown. Jeanty heavily contributed with 34 carries for 209 yards and three touchdowns.
Jeanty has recorded 1,525 total yards this season on 190 carries with 20 touchdowns, securing the top spot in the NCAA for both total rushing yards and touchdowns.
After his standout performance on Saturday, Jeanty moved into second place on the FBS all-time list for most rushing yards, trailing only the legendary Barry Sanders, who recorded 2,628 yards and 37 touchdowns in 1988 for the Oklahoma State Cowboys, according to ESPN.
Boise State fans took to social media to praise the junior running back, calling him the unofficial Heisman winner after his impressive performance in Saturday’s victory.
Next Saturday, the Broncos will look to extend their winning streak as they face the 6-3 San Jose State Spartans on the road.
