McLachlan confirmed the return to office order on Monday and the policy impacts 1500 staff across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, the AFR reported.

In advertisements for new roles, Tabcorp said McLachlan is championing a “winning culture” with an in-office policy.

“We have a dynamic, new CEO in Gillon McLachlan and we’re building a winning culture by bringing our office-based teams together onsite every day,” the advertisement for a Reward Partner role in Sydney reads.

“We value flexibility – like adjusting start or finish times or working remotely when required – however we believe being together is key to our success.”

It follows tech giant Amazon’s return to office order earlier this week, which will see all staff permanently work in the office from January 2025.

He said senior managers had been examining how to better “invent, collaborate and be connected enough to each other” to provide the best outcome for both customers and the business.

Employees would be required to attend the office five days per week from January 2, 2025.

“We’ve decided that we’re going to return to being in the office the way we were before the onset of COVID. When we look back over the last five years, we continue to believe that the advantages of being together in the office are significant,” Jassy said in the note to employees.

The company’s previous office attendance requirement was three days a week.
