I first started looking for a new hairbrush many months ago when I finally stopped frying my hair off (read: highlighting it) and started to embrace my natural brunette tones.
With stronger, healthier hair came a desire to take care of it more than I had been so I subbed out quite a few of my products, clips and growth serums to accommodate this new mission.
When it came time to choosing a brush I knew that I wanted it to be predominantly boar bristle to help distribute the oils in my hair from root to tip but still sturdy enough that it would actually get the knots out gently.

When you search for boar bristle brushes one of the first brands to materialise is Mason Pearson, which is renowned in this space for producing the “God tier” of hairbrushes. The only problem? It’s almost $300.
I still wanted the same elevated quality but for a fraction of the price, which is where Oribe’s Resin Flat Brush, which is $157, comes into play.
Don’t get me wrong, I know that’s still a very expensive hairbrush, but these are the type of products that last generations. There are users on TikTok still flaunting their grandmother’s boar bristle brushes.
The Oribe brush was actually sold out until fairly recently so if you want to snap it up from Rogue Beauty you’ll need to be quick.
The product itself is made out of custom-designer Italian resin with an “ergonomic handle” for the perfect grip and balanced weight.
It features a mixture of boar bristle and rounded nylon pins with a 97 per cent natural rubber cushion to delicately stimulate the scalp and polish your hair for an ultra-sleek, shiny finish.
What’s more, it’s anti-static by nature so you won’t have the same issues with frizz that you might have with other brushes.
I’ve actually tested it out for a few days now and I can safely say my hair is softer and more manageable than it ever was using a Tangle Teezer or similar style.
There is actually a range of Oribe brushes available on Rogue Beauty’s website including a Detangling Comb that I use after I’ve washed my hair.
