Following the spectacular success of Beyoncé’s Christmas NFL game halftime show, Netflix announced it is releasing the concert as a standalone special this week. To add to the frenzy, Beyoncé has posted a cryptic message, leading fans to speculate more music may be on the way in 2025…
Beyoncé delivered the goods like only Queen Bey can during Netflix’s NFL debut on Christmas Day.
Riding into her halftime appearance on a white horse, the 32-time Grammy winner rocked her hometown Houston crowd with a nearly 13-minute performance.
She performed only songs from her 2024 album ‘Cowboy Carter’ – including ‘16 Carriages’, ‘Blackbird’, ‘Jolene’ and ‘YA YA’ – and was joined on stage by the likes of Shaboozey, Post Malone and even her eldest daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who danced with her mum to the song ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’.
The show marked Beyoncé’s first time performing songs from the album live since its release, as the artist has yet to tour ‘Cowboy Carter’, last performing her previous album ‘Renaissance’ in October 2023.
The reaction to the NFL Christmas game Halftime Show show was wild, so much so that Netflix has now announced that it will be released on the streaming platform as a standalone special.
Dubbed Beyoncé Bowl, it is being released later this week. A concrete date or time has yet to be shared.
As if that wasn’t enough, Beyoncé took to social media after the performance wrapped to tease something for next year – 14 January to be precise.
Her cryptic message, captioned “look at that horse”, has sparked speculation from fans. Could it be an announcement for a ‘Cowboy Carter’ tour? Or possibly an announcement for ‘Act III’ of the ‘Renaissance’ trilogy?
We’ll have to wait to find out.
‘Cowboy Carter’ was one of our favourite albums of 2024 and it led Beyoncé to becoming the most-nominated musician in Grammy history.
She previously tied with her husband Jay-Z with 88 nominations apiece, but since November has been nominated for 11 awards at next year’s Grammys. She now holds a record-breaking 99 nominations and in 2023 broke the record for most Grammy wins, taking home a total of 32 trophies.
Regarding the deal with Netflix, the streaming platform had agreed to a three-year contract in May to broadcast Christmas Day American football games. The NFL is expected to give the service one of its biggest days since the site launched in 1998.
