Bodies of woman, two children pulled from waterway in Sydney

A Georges River search and rescue mission has ended in tragedy after the bodies of a woman and two children were pulled from the waterway in Sydney’s south-west.

Police were called to Floyd Bay in Lansvale at 10.15am today after the three reportedly fell into the water.

The popular picnic spot was filled with people, some of which jumped into the water in an effort to save their lives.

The woman was pulled to the shore a short time later but she could not be saved.

State Emergency Service volunteers and police were called to search for the children.

Divers used a sonar imaging camera to look through the muddy water.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
