Bride Changes Into Second Dress, Viewers Shocked by Husband’s Response

At weddings, it’s the bride and groom’s time to shine—but it’s hard to be picture-perfect all the time.

A video on TikTok posted by Chel (@chelwedding) has gone viral after she shared the moment she changed into a surprise second dress at her nuptials. Attempting to film a candid video of her husband’s reaction, Chel found him less shocked at her new frock than she had expected. Since the video was posted, it has received nearly two million views.

“When you do a surprise dress change on your wedding day and this is the reaction you get from your husband,” Chel captioned the video, which shows her husband not saying anything in favor of another conversation with a guest. “A man of many words as per usual. At least my girls got my back.”

While Chel has since turned off the comments for the post, she made several videos after the clip went viral responding to comments from shocked viewers.

One person wrote: “If that was my husband, we wouldn’t be married anymore. He really wasn’t bothered.”

Another wrote that they would be “so embarrassed.”

To that, Chel posted a few videos of her husband looking lovingly at her—including his choked-up reaction to seeing her about to walk down the aisle. People in the comments section on these videos had another interpretation of her husband’s reception reaction: “Shy guy, nervous, in love, excited, that’s all I can see…a lovely natural scene,” one person wrote.

“The man was in a conversation with someone, he acknowledged her beautiful dress—maybe not the reaction she was looking for, but to say he’s not bothered, and you wouldn’t get married, is wild,” another person wrote.

In a video, Chel addressed the viral clip and situation as a whole.

“I was forced to turn the comments off on my last video, and here is why,” she said. “The I put on as a joke of my dress change, people did not like…people were arguing with each other in the comments…I am gobsmacked by that reaction.”

Chel said that the video was just “a bit of fun” for her—and that after the footage of her husband seeing her walk down the aisle, she found his non-reaction at the reception extra-funny.

“He was obviously drunk. He was having a conversation, and regardless of any of that, I didn’t care,” Chel said. On the video, she wrote that she was a relaxed bride on her wedding day, ready to roll with the punches that any big occasion will bring.
