A bride’s walk down the aisle to the Star Wars theme tune has delighted viewers online.

Alannah Pummell, 29, wanted to surprise her husband who is a big fan of the U.S. movie franchise. Pummell, known online as @alannahharding, shared the moment from their 2023 wedding to TikTok on September 20, where it has since become a viral sensation. The British couple’s unique idea is a break from U.K. and U.S. traditions which often see the bride walk down the aisle to slow wedding procession tunes.

“He loves Star Wars and I wanted that moment that I walked down the aisle to be so special for the both of us,” Pummell, who is based in Norwich, England, told Newsweek. “I had timed the music to the second to make sure that my seven bridesmaids and ring boy had all walked down the aisle in time for me to come out, just as the music became dramatic.”

Viewers were able to see Pummell’s husband, Ryan, tear up after recognizing the first few notes of the music while his bride prepared to walk towards him. Pummell’s bridesmaids walked on while the music maintained a steady pace, but she made her own strides as it began to crescendo.

An overlaid text on the video read: “POV: [Point of view] Your husband-to-be is a huge Star Wars fan so you surprise him with your aisle song.”

Before making a decision on her wedding playlist, Pummell had to ensure the Star Wars soundtrack was palatable to everyone on their guest list. She also rehearsed her walk multiple times.

“I tested the music with a few family members, some that knew Star Wars and some that didn’t,” she said. “Those that knew the music from the films instantly recognized the adaptation of the music from Samuel Kim and those that didn’t just thought it was a lovely piece of instrumental music.”

Pummell had been “obsessed” with planning the perfect wedding ever since she got engaged and had been scouring for ways to make the day as personal as possible.

“[I made] Ryan’s interests and hobbies a big part of the day as well as mine,” she said. “For instance, we had Lego people on the top of our cake, gladioli flowers for his [grandmother] and a beer pong table during cocktail hour.”

More than 971,000 TikTok users have liked the post since it was shared on the platform, while 3,000-plus have cheered the unique song choice in the comments section.

“That is so beautiful. My daughter and her fiance are getting married this November, [and] they have got instrumental versions of music from favorite films,” one user, @owl931, wrote.

Another, @me.and.mew, added: “Mine was “Across The Stars,” best feeling of my life.”

“My husband is a huge gamer and I surprised him by walking down the aisle to “The Great Fairy Fountain” from Zelda’s 25th Anniversary Symphony,” a third user, @itsgraceelliot, shared.

The couple had met at a birthday party almost eight years ago, and have been inseparable ever since.

“There hasn’t been a day since then that we haven’t spoken,” Pummell said.

She had captioned the post: “Our wedding was all about doing things for us, we didn’t worry about what other people might think we just wanted a day that was special to us.”
