Brumbies dominate, Faessler stamps claim, Kerevi crashes

The Wallabies have continued their strong form in the Autumn Nations series, blowing away Wales 52-20 to retain the James Bevan Trophy and hand the Welsh their eleventh straight loss – the worst losing streak in their history.

While it was a commanding win by the Wallabies, it was not a perfect performance, with The Roar audience notably cooler compared to the Twickenham win in their voting for the Wallabies’ performances this week.

After all players picked up a pass mark against England, the same could not be said this time, with one player (guess who?) picking up a fail mark in the 23. However, there was plenty still to like – especially in the backline – with nine players picking up an average of 7 or higher, and two of them averaging 8 or higher. Seven players also achieved a most common score of 8 or higher.

At the top of the pile by a considerable margin was the man of the match himself, Tom Wright, with an average of 8.74 and a most common rating of 9.

Taking silver was his ever-reliable Brumbies’ teammate Rob Valetini (8.08), with Matt Faessler (7.86) making his first appearance at the top of the pile taking the bronze thanks to his rolling maul hat-trick. Andrew Kellaway (7.81) and Len Ikitau (7.63) round out the top five.

At the bottom, unsurprisingly, was Samu Kerevi, with his red card leading the centre to pick up the only fail mark of the match, averaging 4.85 with a most common rating of 5. Ben Donaldson (5.04) and Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii (5.37) round out the bottom three, though their scores were affected by both players coming on later in the match.

Another score of note was Angus Bell, whose average of 5.54 was a notable drop of over three percentage points from last week, courtesy of a tough day in the scrum. On the flip side, the most contentious position of 2024 – flyhalf – saw Noah Lolesio net his best score of the year, with an average of 7.16 and a most common rating of 8.
