Caitlin Clark breaks yet another WNBA record as Indiana Fever star records most assists ever in a single season

Caitlin Clark’s stellar rookie campaign gained another milestone on Friday night as she broke the WNBA record for assists in a single season.

Clark entered the game against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces just four assists away from overtaking Connecticut Sun star Alyssa Thomas’ 316 dimes in 2013.

Within the first half of the contest, the Indiana Fever star notched her record-breaking 317th assist with her fifth dime of the evening. Clark did so with an inbounds pass to set up teammate Kelsey Mitchell.

The new feat adds to Clark’s monumental season, in which she has broken several records on the court and inspired massive spikes in viewership and attendance leaguewide.

On July 17, Clark broke the single-game assists record by dropping 19 dimes against the Dallas Wings. She then set the record for single-season assists by a rookie on August 19.

Additionally, Clark made more three-pointers than any rookie in WNBA history and became the first newcomer to record multiple triple-doubles.

With the nation’s eyes on her, Clark is averaging 19.1 points, 5.7 boards, and 8.4 assists per game this season.

Clark and the Fever entered Friday’s game behind a loss to the Aces earlier this week and with a 19-18 record.

Indiana sits sixth in the WNBA standings with two more games after Friday’s matchup. Clark and Co. will wrap up the regular season with a game against the Dallas Wings on Sunday and a visit to the nation’s capital to play the Mystics on September 19.

On the other hand, the Aces came into the matchup as the 4th-seeded team in the WNBA with a 23-13 record.

The defending champions will finish their campaign with games against Connecticut, Seattle, and Dallas.
