Caleb Williams already wowing Bears with incredible throw

Maybe the Bears finally do have their long-sought-after quarterback of the future.

Caleb Williams, just a little less into his first NFL training camp, is already wowing the Bears and their hungry fans with dazzling throws and accuracy — especially one off-platform throw on Thursday.

In one drill, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft rolled to his left before firing a throw with both feet in the air.

The result was on the money too, as he connected with new Bears star Keenan Allen on the sideline for an unreal completion.

“Just beautiful,” the Bears official X account wrote with a teary-eyed emoji in a caption above the highlight.

Chicago fans have long hoped for a generational talent, and they seemed eager to watch Williams’ early progress.

“It’s a thing of beauty,” Jarrett Payton, the son of Walter Payton, wrote on X in reply to the video.

“There aren’t enough words to explain what I’m going to feel when Caleb Williams makes this type of throw during a game,” wrote another user.

“Jordan Brand needs to sign Caleb Williams,” another wrote with a picture of Williams throwing the ball alongside the iconic image of Michael Jordan dunking for the Bulls that’s used on his brand of shoes and apparel.

Tight end Gerald Everett told reporters Wednesday that he has seen an “it factor” for Williams already just a few days into camp.

“He’s definitely got that it factor,” Everett said. “As a duel threat quarterback he’s not afraid to run and he’s definitely got the arm strength. He’s shown that from OTAs to now.

“To see his confidence building day in and day out is a sight to see”

Head coach Matt Eberflus told reporters that he will make a decision soon if Williams will play in next Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game to kick off the preseason.

He did say that he has ideas on what the young signal-caller can work on.

“Run game, footwork, and then in the walk-throughs making sure that he controls the pace with him in and out of the huddle, making sure all those reps are good,” Eberflus said Wednesday. “Those are the two things he’s working on.”
