I didn’t watch a single event associated with the inauguration yesterday so I’m not sure what happened. But, I will file this under “Things Carrie Underwood Should Have Thought About A Week Ago.”
Carrie Underwood went to D.C. to sing “America The Beautiful” for Trump and his friends. But her performance was marred by technical glitches (probably because all the smart teamsters hate Trump). She had to sing a capella when her backing track stopped working. According to an anonymous source speaking to The Daily Mail, Underwood is mad that she wasn’t shown the same level of respect as previous inauguration performers, like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga.
Please. Both women have more talent in their pinky fingers than Carrie Underwood. And when they performed it was for a President who had a healthy respect for societal norms and women. What, you thought Trump’s people were going to give you *checks notes* a stage to stand on? They were all too busy finding extra chairs for the front row of Tech Bros and last-minute invitee NYC Mayor Eric Adams. You’re just some girl who sings while leopards eat her face.
You know who wouldn’t have had an issue singing without a backing track? Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.
Somewhere those two are having a good laugh at the comparison while the producers of American Idol, where Carrie Underwood is returning as a judge this season, are worried about fan backlash affecting ratings.
In what is surely a coincidence and not at all driven by the comparison, Lady Gaga’s official website was updated overnight to include a countdown timer that’s set to end at 11 AM EST on January 27th.
Mother Monster has something up her sleeve.
