Charli XCX Nominated for 7 Grammys

Charli XCX has been nominated for seven Grammy awards for the 2025 ceremonies: Album of the Year for Brat, Record of the Year for “360,” Best Pop Solo Performance for “Apple,” Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Guess” featuring Billie Eilish, Best Dance Pop Recording for “Von Dutch,” Best Dance/Electronic Album for Brat, and Best Remixed Recording for “Von Dutch” featuring A.G. Cook and Addison Rae.

This is a welcome windfall for Charli, who has been in the game since time immemorial, it sometimes seems, writing and featuring on the kinds of songs that are always in the Target playlist rotation.

“me not being nominated for a grammy for crash is like mia goth not being nominated for an oscar for pearl and only further proves that people don’t wanna see hot evil girls thrive,” she tweeted in 2023, when her album Crash received no nominations. Things, you could say, have changed.

“I wrote an album about myself and about my friends and about partying and about all of my problems. I wasn’t really sure if anyone would connect with it but lucky for me, the pendulum of culture swung in favor of messiness, personality and the niche. And lots of people did end up connecting with my songs probably because they feel as messy and volatile as I do sometimes,” she said at the Wall Street Journal 2024 Innovator Awards in October.

It’s reminiscent of Chappell Roan’s statements this week about how everything started working out for her the minute she stopped taking herself seriously. Charli XCX has been here, doing the damn thing, for a long time now. Brat was a defiant middle finger to the music industry, and she’s finally reaping the well-deserved rewards.
