Charlie Woods knocks down first ever hole-in-one at PNC Championship

It has been a weekend to remember for the Woods family.

With Tiger and Charlie teaming up at the PNC Championship, it was the younger Woods that reached a milestone at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.

The 15-year-old hit an ace on the par-3 fourth hole to record his first-ever hole-in-one, eliciting a great eruption from the crowd. Initially, Charlie Woods did not know that his ball rolled into the cup but eventually reacted in disbelief when he was told.

Unfortunately for Tiger Woods, he missed his son hitting the shot live but was there to embrace him as his son walked off the tee box.

Tiger and Charlie ran off five straight birdies on the back nine Saturday for a 13-under 59 in the scramble format, giving them a share of the lead heading into the final round.

It was Woods’ first competition since having back surgery in September. Woods said he scheduled that surgery — the sixth on his lower back in the last 10 years — to be sure he recovered in time to play with his son for the fifth straight year.
