MANILA, Philippines — There is no deadline extension for the registration of social media accounts of political parties, party-list groups, and aspirants for their campaign for the 2025 polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Tuesday.
According to Comelec Resolution No. 11064-A, social media registration must be done on or before December 13.
Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia reminded concerned parties to adhere to the new guidelines of the poll body.
“If you don’t want your posts or platforms to be deleted, register your social media accounts,” he said in Filipino at the sidelines of the National Convention of Election Officers in Pasay City.
“We need to say and assert that this is the last day of registration, December 13. And we do extend the deadline on a case-by-case basis only,” he added.

According to Comelec Resolution No. 11064-A, the poll body also amended the rule on social media guidelines by removing the provision that the accounts of private individuals must also be registered and regulated. The Comelec said the amendment aims to uphold the freedom of speech and expression of private citizens.
“Freedom of speech and expression is very important. Whatever our intention is, we always respect their rights under the Constitution,” Garcia said.
