Conor McGregor Tries To Rehab His Image By Fighting Logan Paul

The news cycle moves absurdly quickly. Something that is a big f***ing deal can happen and get washed away by the next story of equal or lesser value. It doesn’t take much to get people to move on. A cute hippo can replace a landmark Supreme Court Case. Earthquakes can devastate an impoverished country and be forgotten as soon as a new movie trailer drops. A school shooting will be instantly replaced by another school shooting. It’s bleak! And plenty of people have found ways to take advantage of it.

There are few better examples than our soon-to-be President. Donald Trump is the king of doing something awful and making people forget by doing something else awful. He does it so often and is so open about it that it’s insane that it works so well. It’s almost as if the media is more concerned with getting people to click on headlines than doing any reporting. Anyway! Now, Conor McGregor hopes the news cycle will move on as he agrees to fight a fellow piece of s***.

McGregor has agreed to box Logan Paul in India. The saying gets overused, but this is a perfect time to say you “hope the meteor wins.” This announcement comes weeks after Conor McGregor was found liable for sexual assault by a civil court jury in Ireland. He was ordered to pay 250,000 Euros to the woman he assaulted. Since then, several companies have stopped selling McGregor’s products. But Paul isn’t one to lose a fight over who can be the shi****st and try to convince people to move on!

Paul is hated so much that he uses it to his advantage as a professional wrestler. He plays on the crowd’s hatred and had quite a successful run in the WWE. That dried up earlier this year, with Paul recently saying that he would never wrestle again because he’s a dad now. That could be true, or it could be more likely that WWE wanted nothing to do with Paul after he was one of several bigots who harassed Olympic boxer Imane Khelif online. It got so bad for Paul that he “apologized.” It wasn’t a good apology, but the fact one was made at all tells you how badly he f***ed up and wanted to avoid consequences.

Both these men have negative stories they are trying to make people forget. What better way than to promise to “fight” each other as some stupid global event? It will probably work! A similar distraction just worked for Paul’s brother who, like McGregor, has been accused of sexual assault (and a host of other terrible things). People will tune in and either forget how awful these men are or use that to fuel their excitement. Meanwhile, they’ll dance around, hug each other, and walk away with huge paydays, a broken system if there ever was one.
