The Dallas Cowboys have been getting hit hard on defense with injuries. Both Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence are currently out. Parsons is dealing with an ankle sprain and could return in Week 6, but Lawrence has been placed on IR due to a foot injury.

Losing Lawrence for weeks is a big hit, as the team also lost defensive end Sam Williams for the season and also placed defensive tackle Jordan Phillips on IR as well. Despite the defense being hit hard with injuries, the Cowboys are about to get back one of its best defenders.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, “The #Cowboys designated All-Pro star CB DaRon Bland to return from IR and there is a chance they could activate him this week against the Lions. They will determine that later in the week. Bland is coming back from a foot injury. Big for the Dallas D.”
The Cowboys have officially designated All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland to return from IR. The even better news is that Bland could be activated to the roster immediately to step into the secondary when the Cowboys take on the Detroit Lions in Week 6.
Bland was placed on IR before the regular season began, as he was dealing with a stress fracture in his foot. Before the season began, it was reported the cornerback would be out for six to eight weeks.
Bland put together an outstanding 2023 year, bringing in a league-leading nine interceptions, including setting the NFL record for most defensive touchdowns by a player with five. Bland had a record five pick-sixes.
The Cowboys’ secondary has done a decent enough job without Bland, as fellow All-Pro Trevon Diggs is still terrorizing receivers. However, with Bland returning, Dallas will have one of the best cornerback duos in the entire league.
The Cowboys started the 2024 season off in a rough manner. After handily beating the Cleveland Browns 33-17 in Week 1, the team was trounced by the New Orleans Saints 44-19.
The Cowboys would then lose a close one to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3. However, Dallas has since rebounded with back-to-back wins against the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers.

With a 3-2 record, the Cowboys are one game behind the 4-1 Washington Commanders. The good news is they are one way from leading the division. The bad news is they are facing a tough Lions team next.
Bland is coming back at just the right time, and his return gives another weapon for new Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer to use.
