‘Daily Show’ shuts down right-wing criticism of Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris at the DNC

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) is currently underway — and so are the late night show monologues about it. Now The Daily Show‘s Desi Lydic has looked back at the DNC’s opening night, as well as its ridiculously lengthy list of speakers.

In particular, Lydic highlighted a moment during Hilary Clinton’s speech when the crowd began chanting “Lock him up!” in reference to former president Donald Trump. This, of course, was a reference to the infamous refrain Trump targeted at Clinton — a refrain that now seems somewhat ironic in light of Trump’s 34 felony convictions.

“That’s the smile of a woman going, ‘I get it now. Sometimes it feels good to be bad!'” said Lydic of Clinton’s response to the crowd’s chant. “I thought Hillary’s whole speech was very moving. In fact, she killed it — although it will be ruled a suicide.”

Despite said smile, Lydic also noted criticism from a right-wing pundit that Clinton was “joyless,” while he simultaneously expressed the opinion that Harris laughed too much.

“Come on, guys,” said Lydic. “Hillary doesn’t smile enough, Kamala smiles too much. You know what? You don’t get an opinion on this, OK? You get to control one hole on women’s bodies, not two, and you picked one already.”
