Dan and Eugene Levy are in talks for a very Levy Emmys

Good evening, everybody, and welcome to another round of awards season speculation. We’re very excited about this, and we’ve been dying to do something all day, and maybe we can take care of this: “Levy. Emmy. Emmy. Levy.” We feel much better. Have you kids met Keanu?

As one could probably discern from that paragraph, the Levy boys, a.k.a. Eugene and Dan Levy, the legendary father-son eyebrow havers, are currently in talks to host the Emmys. This is hardly surprising, given that both are four-time Emmy winners, and everyone probably assumes they’ve hosted award shows before. Eugene Levy won two Emmys for SCTV in the ’80s and two for Schitt’s Creek in 2020, while the multi-hyphenate Dan won four for Schitt’s Creek, winning for writing, directing, and acting. The 2020 wins allowed the gruesome twosome to become the first father-son duo to win Emmys in the same year. Per Deadline, father-son hosts would also be an Emmys first. As impossible as it seems, the Levys have yet to host an awards show together. In 2020, while presenting at the SAG Awards, they had to explicitly tell the audience they were not hosting because they had not been paid.

The Emmys are only about a month away, meaning the Television Academy needs to start making decisions. Across the street at the Motion Picture Academy, hosting issues have plagued the Academy Awards this year. Their most recent host, Jimmy Kimmel, who played MC four times and navigated the troubled waters of the Slap in 2022, has declined to return. Fan-favorite John Mulaney, who stumped for Field Of Dreams when presenting at the Oscars last year, also passed on duties. The Oscars aren’t until March 2025, so there’s still time to hire someone other than James Corden.

The Emmys air on ABC on September 15.
