The effects of dementia can be profound, affecting memory, intellect, social skills, and the ability to carry out daily tasks. Those living with dementia may experience significant losses in cognitive and physical functions, which can dramatically alter their quality of life. Sadly, stigma and discrimination against people living with dementia are prevalent. Dementia Australia reports that 90 per cent of friends, family and caregivers observe that loved ones living with dementia are treated with less respect than others.
