Detectives launched a homicide investigation on Monday after discovering a woman’s body in a guest room at a posh Water Mill resort in the Hamptons.
A staff member at the Shou Sugi Ban House discovered a woman dead in one of the thirteen guest studios around 12:30 p.m., prompting Southampton Town Police to respond to the location at 337 Montauk Highway.
Investigators determined the woman was a victim of violence.

Each 400-square-foot studio accommodates two guests with either a king or queen bed, a luxurious soaking tub, a modern gas fireplace and organic amenities by Sangre de Fruta. While connected in structure, each studio has its own private entrance and garden patio, surrounded by lush grasses for added privacy and tranquility, according to their website.
Police have not yet identified the woman, and personnel from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner will determine her cause of death following an autopsy.
Newsweek reached out to the Suffolk County Police Department, which stated no further information is available at this time.
