Brazier Puzzle Solution In Diablo 4: Vessel Of Hatred
-
“All Good Things” Quest Brazier Puzzle Solution
Diablo 4 isn’t known for its intense puzzles, but Vessel Of Hatred is shaking that up a bit with its series of event puzzle chests, of which the brazier puzzle is the third. Whether or not you decide to make a new character, you’ll run into these braziers eventually. This puzzle also appears as part of the main questline “All Good Things,” so you’ll need to know how to solve it to progress. The puzzle series version of this puzzle can show up in any standard cellar, making it tricky to track down. Once you find it, you’ll be faced with the even trickier challenge of actually solving it.
For an audience not accustomed to puzzles, this is a hard one, and there’s been a lot of buzz about the difficulty of this puzzle compared to the reward you receive once you do solve it. For the more puzzle-adept, however, you’ll recognize this as an imitation of the “Lights Out” electronic puzzle game released by Tiger Electronics in 1995. The puzzle requires you to light up all the braziers in order to get your prize, but doing this is easier said than done.

Depending On How Your Braziers Are Arranged, Your Solution Will Be Different
As mentioned above, this puzzle is tricky to track down, so whether you face it first in the main questline while looking for Akarat’s tomb or while searching cellars for treasure, be ready to put on your thinking cap. The general rule for this type of puzzle is simple; when you light one brazier, the braziers directly next to it – but not diagonal to it – will be changed. If a brazier is on, it will be turned off, and vice versa.

Diablo 4 Fans Just Got Another Reason To Invest In A PS5 Pro
If Sony Fans weren’t already sold on the new PlayStation 5 Pro, Diablo 4 fans might just have a major reason to get their hands on one.
For the quest version of this puzzle, you’ll only have four braziers to contend with, but for the cellar puzzle version, you might have a few more. For the cellar version, you can use this tool created by jjflanigan to solve your puzzle. Use the dropdowns and the “Edit” button to configure your braziers to match those in your game, making sure the lit and unlit ones are the same as well.
Once you’ve got them set up properly, you can hit the “Solve” button at the top of the screen. A minesweeper-like grid will pop up, and each box of the grid will have a number in it. That indicates how many times you should turn on the corresponding brazier. Go from top to bottom, hitting each marked brazier in order until they are all lit up.
Once you do, a chest will appear, though it’s likely to be Radiant and not all that helpful at this point in the game. For the few who solved it on their own, the victory of a puzzle solved is its own reward, but for many, you’ll be frustrated at the lack of loot for your efforts. Whether you loved or hated this puzzle, be prepared to see it again in the main quest “All Good Things,” which expands on Neyrelle’s story, if you haven’t already.

With Only Four Braziers, This Puzzle Has A Much Simpler Solution
In this version of the brazier puzzle, you’ll only have four braziers to contend with, making your solution much simpler. Like the cellar version of the puzzle, the rules remain the same. When you interact with one brazier, the two directly next to it will change. Lit braziers fizzle out, while dark braziers light up. Consider the four braziers as if they’re the points on a compass, with the brazier closest to the door you entered through being the southern one, then light them in this order:
- West
- South
- West
- North
- East
- West
This should allow you to light up all four braziers without much difficulty. If you changed the brazier configuration before looking up the answer, you should quit out of the game to reset them before using the solution above. This will ensure the braziers light up properly once you follow these instructions.
As you enter the solution, be prepared to fight a few enemies that spawn every time you interact with one of the braziers, as you can see in DonTheCrown’s solution video on YouTube. These baddies shouldn’t be too much trouble, and provide some stimulation for the more battle-focused players, though this encounter doesn’t quite live up to the power fantasy the devs promised for Vessel of Hatred. After you complete this puzzle, the way forward should be unlocked, allowing you to continue on toward the final trial and Akarat’s tomb with Eru and Neyrelle in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred.
