The two Russian monopolists of the world light-heavyweight titles are in prime condition for their potentially classic battle for the undisputed championship here this Saturday night.

Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol scaled within three ounces of each other at the weigh-in on a stage which blazed like a blue beacon through a dark desert night.

Whether or not the perspiring humidity made any difference, the WBA belt holder Bivol was three ounces heavier at 174lbs 12 oz than multiple champion Beterbiev.

No surprise there. This pair are among the most dedicated athletes on the planet. They are also acutely aware of the threat each faces from the other.

Beterbiev’s perfect record is 20 fights, 20 KOS.

Bivol stepped on the scales weighing 174lbs 12 oz

Beterbiev was three ounces lighter than the WBA champion

Bivol was slightly heavier than his opponent on Saturday when he stepped on the scale 

Bivol is also unbeaten on 23 victories. They had no need to sell this long awaited.

Bivol said: ‘I’ve pushed myself to my 100 per cent limit to try to achieve my undisputed dream.’

Beterbiev: ‘As usual I am ready. We’ll see who is undisputed tomorrow night.’
