Miami’s most difficult matchup comes up this week as they head to Texas to face the Houston Texans.
To make victory more probable, the Dolphins have made some roster movies. Unfortunately, it’s coming at the cost of a former second-string quarterback.
On Saturday, the Dolphins announced that they were waiving quarterback Skylar Thompson.
In exchange, Miami has signed defensive tackle Matt Dickerson to the active roster off the practice squad and activated wide receiver Grant DuBose off of injured reserve.
Additionally, the Dolphins have elevated tackle Ryan Hayes and long snapper Zach Triner to the active roster.
Thompson has played with the Dolphins since the team selected him in the 2022 NFL Draft in the seventh round with the 247th overall pick.

After a strong preseason performance, Thompson was named to the 53-man roster after final cuts. He made his NFL debut against the New York Jets in Week 5 after quarterback Terry Bridgewater left the game due to a concussion.
Thompson was named the starter in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings after Bridgewater and Tua Tagavailoa were both dealing with concussions. After completing 7-of-13 passes for 89 yards, Thompson left the game with a thumb injury.
Thompson started his second game in Week 18, once again against the Jets. He went 20-for-31 for 152 yards to clinch Miami’s first playoff appearance since 2016.
