Karadius Toney has been cut from the Kansas City Chiefs as a part of trimming their roster down to the required 53 players.
The wide receiver, who was acquired by KC in a trade with the New York Giants, was released by the Chiefs before Tuesday’s roster deadline.
Toney will forever remember his time with the Chiefs – in part, because he has their logo tattooed on his body.
The wideout has a giant KC arrowhead logo with the words Super Bowl champ on his ribcage.
Not only that, but Toney also has the number 89 that he wore with the Giants on his back along with the New York City skyline – complete with the Statue of Liberty.
Kadarius Toney has had some bad luck with his tattoos after being cut by the Chiefs Tuesday
Toney doesn’t just have ink from his time in KC on him, but also from his days with the Giants
Some fans took that opportunity to clown on Toney – joking about his ‘bad luck’ with getting inked up for his former teams and how they may have ‘backfired’.
‘Time to tattoo the McDonald’s logo next,’ wrote one Twitter account.
Another wrote, ‘Time for cover-up’ while another joked, ‘Next tat: “Waived”’
‘Bro better save some room for the USFL tattoo,’ said another account.
While these accounts were harsh in their assessment of Toney’s ink, there were plenty that defended the receiver.
‘They didn’t backfire? He played for both of these teams getting drafted by the Giants and winning a Super Bowl with the chiefs lol,’ one account said.
‘I mean he won 2 superbowls with the chiefs and got drafted by the giants, not too big of a backfire,’ wrote another.
Yet another said, ‘I mean, no one can take his SB’s from him, even when he moves teams.’
‘Not quite sure I’d regret those…,’ remarked another account. ‘A tattoo resembling the team that gave you a chance at your dream and a tattoo to represent the team you won 2 super bowls back to back with.’
Multiple people both supported and made fun of Toney for his choice in tattoos
Toney is sure to land on his feet somewhere – having won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs in consecutive seasons.
Across three seasons in the NFL, Toney has racked up 760 yards in total on 82 receptions with 3 total touchdowns.
Last season, Toney played in 13 games – catching 27 passes and 169 yards on the year.
