The mid-season driver merry-go-round has all but condemned Logan Sargeant’s future to an F1 exit after just two seasons.
Plenty has been said about the second seat at Williams alongside Alex Albon. Amid the rumours, one thing seems certain — Sargeant will not be on the F1 grid in 2025.
Carlos Sainz has been linked to that seat as has Daniel Ricciardo, although the latter has expressed his desire to stay at AlphaTauri long-term.

While Sargeant isn’t the most popular or successful driver in F1 – sitting last with no point to his credit – there is still interest in where he might end up beyond this season.
Now there are rumours afoot that the American will return home to race in the IndyCar Series.
Earlier this year, Prema confirmed plans to enter IndyCar with a two-car team and the squad’s team principal Rene Rosin has expressed some interest in the 23-year-old.
The European-based organisation is one of the most prolific in junior single-seater racing with teams in Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula Regional, and Formula 4.

Sergeant has raced with Prema previously in F3, finishing third in the 2020 season behind champion teammate Oscar Piastri and Theo Pourchaire.
“We have known him a while,” Rosin told Motorsport.com.
“We are talking, but from the driver side we are not really interested in discussing now much, because I have been concentrating on building up the team in the style that we all want, and drivers will be on the second stage.”
At the launch of the IndyCar team, Rosi expressed a desire to field an experienced driver alongside a rookie.
Even at just 23 years old, Sergeant would certainly be considered an experienced head.
If not Sargeant, then there is no shortage of drivers waiting in the wings to drive for the team.
Callum Ilott, another Prema graduate, could conceivably be a target. However, he has established himself in the FIA World Endurance Championship since being dropped by Juncos Hollinger Racing at the end of last season.
“To be honest, he’s one of the drivers that I would say is… I don’t say on our list, but is for sure somebody interesting,” Rosin said of Ilott.
“Looking at his experience and the previous years that he raced with us and against us.
“But still too early to discuss about drivers from my point of view. Every day I hear something different.”
Rosin said the team will acquire its two IndyCar racers in the coming weeks before investigating its driver options in earnest.
The IndyCar Series continues at Mid-Ohio on Monday with coverage live, ad-free, and exclusively on Stan Sport from 3.30am AEST.
