San Antonio waves goodbye to summer with a slate of downtown events:
All day Thursday, seek out Leo’s Hideout Slice Shop for a pizza party. The downtown spot tucked away in the Rand Building is offering $1 slices until midnight, with DJ Mathematique spinning vinyl.
Friday at the Little Carver Theatre, join the San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum (SAAACAM) for On These Grounds, the latest installment in its Black History Film Series. The film starts at 6 p.m. with a panel discussion afterward. The event is free with registration.
Friday is also the First Friday art walk in and around the Blue Star area. Be sure to stretch on over to the MBS Gallery from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for the At Home exhibition by artist Lindsey Hurd, who makes magic with bug parts, rusty bits, seashells, plants, honeycombs and other objects found on walks.
Also on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., stop by the Brick at Blue Star for Jotoseptiembre, a one-night LGBTQ+ photography exhibition organized by San Antonio’s own José Villalobos and Martin Delgado.
And next Tuesday, Texas Public Radio’s Worth Repeating series features seven speakers on the theme “Snatched” at 7 p.m. in the Irma and Emilio Nicolas Media Center.
