Five fire units sent to crash on A9 at Kingussie

Police investigators are working at the scene of a three-car crash on the A9 at Kingussie.

It is understood “a number” of people have been taken to hospital.

The road remains closed in both directions after the collision at around 2pm on Sunday.

The three vehicles that appear to have been involved in the crash, include a white Renault transit-type van, a blue Volvo SUV and a white Ford car.

A fire service spokesperson said: “We received the call at 2pm and we are still at the scene.

“We have sent three appliances from Aviemore, one volunteer unit from Carrbridge and one heavy rescue unit from Inverness.”

A post from Traffic Scotland on X confirmed the road is now closed both ways, having initially only been shut northbound.

It added: “Emergency services remain at (the) scene.

“Traffic is heavy in the surrounding area, please avoid the area at this time.”

It has not been confirmed if there are any injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The A9 is closed near the junction with the A86 at Kingussie following a three-vehicle crash which occurred around 2pm on Sunday.

“Emergency services are in attendance and motorists are advised to use alternative routes.”

Scottish Citylink says its coaches are being diverted via Newtonmore but is warning passengers to expect delays.
