Former President Bill Clinton released from hospital after being treated for the flu

Former President Bill Clinton was discharged from the hospital after being treated for the flu, his spokesperson said Tuesday.

“He and his family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital,” Angel Ureña, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, said in a statement after his release.

Clinton, 78, was admitted to the hospital on Monday for testing and observation after developing a fever, Ureña said then.

The 42nd president and his family “are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received,” Ureña said Tuesday.

“He sends his warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season to all.”

The two-term president has faced a number of health scares since he left office in 2001.
