Heat advisory starts at noon in Baltimore area

Chances of showers and thunderstorms are set to return Tuesday as scorching temperatures continue in the Baltimore area.

Tuesday is expected to have a high near 97 degrees with a heat index as high as 110, according to the National Weather Service. A heat advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Baltimore area.

After 2 p.m., there’s a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms lasting into the night. Temperatures are predicted to fall to as low as 79.

The NWS forecasts temperatures in the upper 90s and a heat index of 107 on Wednesday, but chances of showers will increase throughout the day from 30% to 50%. The weather service issued another heat advisory from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday for the Baltimore area.

Temperatures will start to decline on Thursday — the high will be in the low 90s — but chances of showers and thunderstorms will increase to 60%. Thursday night is predicted to have temperatures in the mid-70s.

Going into the weekend, Friday is forecast to have a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms at 2 a.m., increasing to 80% in the afternoon. The weather service predicts Friday to have a high near 86 and a low around 73 at night.

Temperatures are anticipated to climb back into the 90s over the weekend, with Saturday having a high of 90 and Sunday having a high of 95.

Although Sunday is expected to be dry, Saturday will have a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms at 2 p.m., dropping to 30% by 8 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday are forecast to have a low of around 74.
