Western, Kevin Costner, and general movie fans have flocked to social media to take aim at the recent announcement that Horizon: Chapter 2 has been pulled from its August release date. The news broke yesterday that the second part in Costner’s passion project has now been delayed indefinitely following the first movie’s much-publicized struggle at the box office.

Many have slammed the studio following the release date delay, with one fan saying, “WB are f*cking joke of a studio. Why give the green light for an August release just to cancel it. I understand it’s not for everyone and it’s had mixed reviews but this is just f*cking ridiculous. I feel so sorry for Kevin Costner who literally put everything into this. F*ck WB.” Another equally aggrieved fan adds, “It was already bad enough that success was dictated by opening weekend, leading films that underperformed to be discarded from theaters quickly. Now we are letting that keep stories from continuing on a big screen. Massive bummer.”

A new date has not yet been set for the Horizon sequel, but reports have said that the plan is still to release the Western epic in theaters. Some fans, though, perceive the pulling of the movie from the schedule as a damning indictment of the state of modern cinema. “Not going to shame all the people who skipped seeing HORIZON PART ONE in theaters and caused the delay of PART TWO but enjoy a summer full of sequels, reboots, requels, and gleepglops, you A-holes,” says one, with another adding, “Horizon Chapter 2 pulled from theaters while Deadpool 3 on the cusp of opening to 150 mill, what the hell man, we don’t deserve movies let the entire industry crumble idgaf.”

It Has Not Been Revealed When Horizon: Chapter 2 Will Land in Theaters

Even those who didn’t particularly care for the first chapter of Horizon are disappointed with the news, and disgusted about what such actions could mean for theaters, with one such movie fan saying, “Shame. I didn’t like Chapter 1 of Horizon, but still intrigued to see where the story’s going. Hope they release Chapter 2 in theaters eventually and don’t dump the whole thing on Max. Also, this is a sh*tty thing to do to the theater owners.”
