Max is wrapping up the year with the release of a new “year in review” feature for subscribers. Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform – which includes Discovery, CNN, Adult Swim, TCM, and Investigation Discovery, among others – is joining the ranks of Spotify, Apple Music, and PlayStation by creating a personalized end-of-year wrap-up for its users.
According to a Variety exclusive, “Max Rewind” will officially launch on Thursday, Dec. 19 (that’s today) and will be available for all adult profiles on Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming app through an in-app notification. In order to access Max Rewind, you’ll need to log in through the app on your TV or mobile device.
Adult subscribers will be able to look back at their watch stats for 2024 in their personalized Max Rewind, which was described as a shareable look back at users’ watch history as well as the media consumption trends of communities as a whole.
“Each user will be assigned a character according to their watch history and will be given access to a curated collection page of recommendations for each Max character. Other elements that will be shared in the rewind include a subscriber’s top brand and genre, Max’s seasonal title highlights, their viewing pattern, and top avatars.”

4 DC Shows Are Leaving Max on January 1 Making It Another Sad Day for Fans
Warner Bros. Discovery have revealed that four Dc shows will be leaving Max on January 1.
The data not only shows which shows and movies were viewers’ favorites, but also includes the most popular genres for each state and which profile avatars are the most popular picks. The recap also reveals the streaming app’s most popular programming for every season. For example, last winter, the most popular titles were March Madness, Quiet on Set, and The Sopranos. This data can be interesting as it reveals which shows or films people enjoy during different times of the year, like Hacks, The Sympathizer, and The Matrix last spring, and House of the Dragon, Industry, and The Leftovers in the summer. Although each season features a timely release in the top tier, like The Peguin during its fall 2024 release, each season also shows that users went back to old favorites, like Friends, this fall.
HBO Has Fully Settled Into the Streaming Format
Max is one of the top series producers in streaming and television, like HBO before it. The platform is only continuing to grow its library and reach. After a recent deal with Disney+, Max has been added to a bundle deal, making the streaming platform even more enticing for new users. With the new recap function, the app is stepping up its game to solidify itself in the ranks of the top streaming platforms in the world.
According to Variety’s inside scoop, 2024 is the first year that “Max Rewind” will be available, but the streaming platform tested the feature among a small number of users last year. Since the test went well, Max is now making the Rewind feature accessible to all adult-aged profiles across the globe. If you’re a Max subscriber, then get ready to show off your year in streaming with your friends.
