I’m Sure Pascal Ibgui’s Ego Is Out Of Control (Will He Be The Golden Bachelor?)

I’m sure that The Golden Bachelorette alum Pascal Ibgui is a fun guy, but that doesn’t mean that his ego isn’t inflated. The suave Frenchman who tells it like it is has no filter, which is honestly refreshing. In fact, it’s downright endearing. However, the qualities that make him so energizing as a person are often linked with “healthy” egos. Yes, Pascal is exciting – there’s something about the look in his eye that practically screams, “I’m trouble!” His bold statements about hating housework and “making great reservations” (rather than cooking something himself) win me over one hundred percent.

Therein lies the danger – this guy is so confident that he will say whatever he wants to, and this may signal a bit of an ego problem.

Pascal’s got some courage, some fire… these are two qualities that I greatly value in others. He’s honest too, and that’s so important. On the series, he hurt Joan by dumping her, but really, he was doing her a favor. She wouldn’t want to waste time on a man who doesn’t care. While Pascal doesn’t feel good about how he treated Joan, and believes that producers pushed him to act as he did, he’s not the type to live with a lot of regrets. Pascal is all about sucking the marrow out of life – the French hairstylist wants fun and action.

A leisurely cruise through Pascal’s Instagram showcases his lust for life. If he’s not in a convertible, with the wind ruffling his perfectly cut hair, he’s stepping off a private jet, or enjoying a musical in Chicago, or kissing a buddy on the cheek. Pascal is really living – he’s not phoning it in.

That’s why he couldn’t bring himself to act out a charade with Joan. It seems like life means more to him than that. So, this guy is cool in many ways, and might be an interesting and unexpected Golden Bachelor. However, there are signs that aging bad boy Pascal could leave a trail of broken hearts in his wake…

Was It Funny Or Just Offensive?

Pascal may have a zany sense of humor that’s so French – you know the French love the low-brow comedian Jerry Lewis, right? Jerry sadly passed away in 2017, but Pascal’s honoring him with some dubious comedy of his own. Above, Pascal dresses up as Joan for Halloween, wearing a grin that makes him look like a cross between Alice in Wonderland’s Cheshire Cat and Jack Nicolson as Jack Torrance in The Shining.

All done up in gold, Pascal’s camping it up like a boss, and frankly rocking high heels, but no woman really wants to be impersonated this way after she’s dumped. C’mon, Pascal…admit this was passive-aggression rather than a touching homage. I know you’re honest enough to admit it!

No, It’s Not True, But Pascal Doesn’t Care

In a Glamour interview, the “in your face” Pascal went full bad boy, calling his then-rival Chock Chapple a “stalker.” Yes, Chock clung to Joan, but she was digging it, right? She didn’t exactly shrink away from the insurance maven when he got “thisclose” on the group bowling date. She was into it. That’s probably what really bothered Pascal. He didn’t really want her, but he didn’t want to be bested by some other Golden dude. Pascal’s ability to compete by going super low puts him in villain territory.

In this emotionally barren landscape, anything is possible. Rules can be shamelessly broken with elegant panache, a la Moriarty in
Sherlock.
The overall vibe is so “devil may care.” While Pascal never mimicked Moriarty by saying,
“You should see me in a crown,”
it’s actually not that hard to envision him playing the uber-baddie in that iconic scene.

Dumping an earnest and sensitive Golden Bachelorette, slagging off a romantic rival, and blaming his worst misdeed (giving Joan the Golden boot) on producers make Pascal a villain for the ages. Sure, he’s a rollicking good time, but there is a dark side. If The Golden Bachelorette casts Pascal, he’s going to burn it up. Blunt statements, heartbreaking and possible hilarity will ensue.

You know what – I’m all for it. Give this guy the gig. Reality TV isn’t supposed to be Cinderella or some dopey rom-com. It’s supposed to have some dramatic edge.

Hopefully, Pascal can channel his bad boy energy into pure excitement onscreen. While true love’s a beautiful concept, it’s hard to find, but a truly honest man like Pascal might have a better shot. He’s not afraid to speak his mind, and when he dumped Joan, it was actually his most honorable moment. He cared enough to leave her rather than stringing her along. Yes, his ego’s out of control. but by being honest with a woman, he shows that there’s more to him than puffed-up vanity.

The Golden Bachelorette‘s Pascal Ibgui’s got different layers. He has interesting and glittering facets that may make for explosive drama, which is personally what I’m looking for. Aren’t you?
