The Indian men’s hockey team, riding on the success of three emphatic wins, will look to it make four in four when they face South Korea in the Asian Champions Trophy in China on Thursday.
Craig Fulton’s side, playing their first tourney since that bronze medal triumph at the Paris Paralympics, have dominated the competition. Here’s how the defending champions have fared so far:
-
Game 1: A solid, clinical 3-0 win against host nation China.
-
Game 2: All-around brilliance in a 5-1 victory against Japan
-
Game 3: An attacking masterclass on display as they notched up and 8-1-win vs Malaysia
Fulton’s men have not only been clinical in attacks, with the likes of Abhishek Nain, Sukhjeet Singh and Rajkumar Pal stepping up, but the defence has also been watertight. This is an encouraging sign for the Indian side as they begin their post PR Sreejesh era with Krishan Pathak between the sticks.
South Korea come into this contest after a 3-2 win against China and are currently ranked second in the group. With a win and two draws, they’re also unbeaten and the Indian defence will need to be wary of their forward Yang Ji-hun, who already has four goals to his name.
