French-Japanese drama series “Les Gouttes de Dieu [Drops of God],” Argentine comedy series “División Palermo” and actor Timothy Spall were among the winners at the 52nd annual International Emmy Awards.
Hosted by stand-up comedian Vir Das, the ceremony took place Monday at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel. This year, 21 countries were represented across 14 categories and 56 nominees.
Spall nabbed best actor for his performance as Peter Farquhar in the British true-crime series “The Sixth Commandment.” Other winners representing the U.K. included “Otto Baxter: Not a F**ing Horror Story” for best documentary, “Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story” for sports documentary and “Tabby McTat” for kids: animation.
The top acting prize for a female performer was awarded to Thai actor Aokbab-Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying for Netflix’s “Hunger.” In the best drama category, the International Emmy went to “Les Gouttes de Dieu [Drops of God],” a multinational, multi-lingual series set in the worlds of wine and gastronomy.
During the evening, French actor Omar Sy presented the International Emmy Directorate Award to Gaumont CEO Sidonie Dumas, and writer and producer David E. Kelley received the International Emmys Founder Award from Michael Pressman.
