Football fans were left baffled after witnessing one of the most bizarre red cards ever.

In a Copa Peru match, a player was caught on camera urinating off at the side of the pitch while waiting to take a corner kick.

As a result, Atletico Awajun’s player, Sebastian Munoz, was forced to leave the pitch after an opponent from Cantorcillo informed the referee that he was urinating during the 71st minute of the game.

The incident occurred while Cantorcillo’s goalkeeper, Lucho Ruiz, was waiting for medical staff due to an injury.

Despite Munoz’s protests, the referee confidently stood by the decision.

The embarrassing moment was captured on video and quickly went viral, sparking debates among fans about the referee’s decision.

‘I see no crime,’ one fan said, suggesting the player did not deserve a red card.

‘Listen… when duty calls, duty calls,’ another added.

Other supporters were wondering if the incident is set as a Copa Peru rule’s breach.

A curious fan asked: ‘Is there a specific rule against urinating on the field?’

Another supporter added: ‘Brother was taking the p***, literally.’

However, some supporters defended the Cantorcillo player who reported Munoz’s action to the referee on the sidelines.

‘Number 25 for Cantorcillo did what he had to do for the team.’ one said, while another added: ‘Urine big trouble!’

The incident wouldn’t mark the first time a football player has been sent off for being caught urinating by the side of the pitch.

Last year, former Juventus player Cristian Bunino was shown a red card after a Serie C official spotted him urinating before he came on the field as a substitute.
