You may remember recently that Ridley Scott spilled the beans about Paul Mescal working on Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles films. He did so when explaining that he might have to hire another actor to star in the upcoming thriller, “Dog Stars.” Well, it appears that had to happen, but Scott has definitely found a worthy replacement.

According to Variety, Jacob Elordi has stepped in to replace Paul Mescal in Ridley Scott’s upcoming thriller, “Dog Stars.” The film is expected to tell the story of a worldwide flu epidemic that wipes out nearly all of humanity. Elordi will play a pilot who befriends a gunman, as they attempt to survive a roaming band of scavengers called Reapers.
As mentioned, the role was originally supposed to be for Mescal. But he, instead, has taken a role in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles films. That project is supposed to encapsulate four separate films that focus each on a member of the iconic rock band. Mescal is expected to play Paul McCartney in the biopics.

Elordi is no slouch, however. In addition to his breakout role on HBO’s “Euphoria,” he’s also appeared in films such as “Priscilla,” “Saltburn,” and “Oh, Canada.” He’s next set to be seen as Frankenstein’s monster in Guillermo del Toro’s highly anticipated “Frankenstein,” which is expected to release sometime this year. He’s also signed on to star in Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights.”
“Dog Stars” is eyeing a spring 2025 shoot timeframe, which would be a little tricky for Elordi. However, perhaps something gets pushed back. We’ll have to wait and see.
