Japanese Tea Garden kicks off fall jazz concert series

Starting Sept. 20, the San Antonio Parks Foundation and KRTU 91.7 FM will present the 10th iteration of their Jazz in the Garden Fall Concert Series, a collaborative initiative showcasing local and regional talent against a backdrop that is both storied and cherished: the Japanese Tea Garden.

“The Jazz in the Garden series is a testament to the power of collaboration and the shared mission of our organizations to enrich the cultural fabric of San Antonio,” said Mary Jane Verette, president and CEO of the San Antonio Parks Foundation, in a press release. “We’re proud to continue this tradition and to offer a platform for talented musicians to connect with the community.”

KRTU General Manager JJ Lopez echoes Verette’s sentiments. “When we decided to expand our organizations’ partnership beyond the annual Jazz’SAlive Festival and bring music to the Tea Gardens, it felt like a natural progression,” he said. “Where we align, ultimately, is bringing free, quality programming to the public.”
